What is respite care?
Respite care is any sort of help and support that allows you to take a break from the responsibility of caring for somebody else.

If you are looking after someone else who is disabled or ill you can get respite care which will allow to take a break from the responsibility of caring for that person.

There are different types of respite care:
1) Residential respite care - where the person you care for goes away to live and be looked after by somebody else for a while.
2) Emergency respite care - care that is provided if you are unable to fulfil your caring responsibilities due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness.
3) Domiciliary care - where somebody comes into your home and takes over some of your responsibilities for a few hours.
4) Day centre care - where the person you care for spends time at a centre, getting involved in activities, while you have a few spare hours to yourself.
