Dutch term or phrase: kerktelefoon
It is used in context of describing ADSL work process. I found the general meaning of the term, but cant figure out how it relates technically.

dedicated line
Explanation:
Hi,

I think that the kerktelefoon system is used in the explanation of the ADSL technology, because both the kerktelefoon and ADSL are dedicated lines.

A dedicated line is a line that always has an (electrical) connection (like a copper cable) between two points; so you don't have to dial a number, as the case is with Internet dial-up or an ordinary phone, to establish a connection.)

Jack den Haan came close with his answer, he mentioned the word 'dedicated' one time in his answer, but he didn't mentioned the analogy between ADSL and 'kerktelefoon' in relation to a dedicated line.

Greetings,
Machiel van der Stelt

The Aviation Authority Communications Center, Control Tower, East ARFF Station, West ARFF Station, and TFR Dispatch are all connected by a specially dedicated automatic ring telephone system referred to as the Net Line. This Net Line is for emergency use only and is used as described in the Emergency Response Plan for Tampa International Airport.

Explanation:
"By telephone" suggests folks on the phone to me (but I am not in the loop). Technically it is ADSL.

Kerktelefoon
