Is this the difference between individual and group contracts? Is this working with freelancers (liberi professionisti) vs groups of dipendenti? So then how can I translate contratto di appalto? Maybe it's the time - it's been a long day - but I simply cannot figure this out.
Thanks

tender contract
Explanation:
tenders are awarded to companies who have employees to carry out the workload in the required time and manner. In Italy, anyway, tender bidders are normally companies with specialised employees.

agree  James (Jim) Davis: But not at all with the explanation. The winner of a building contract may easily hire self employed persons and have no employees. A main contractor could sub contract all the work out on a building project and do no work directly, they often do.

-> Thanks, Jim. Tenders are normally for large works, and to win atender, the bidder has to prove that he has the necessary people, means etc. to do the job, and you need employees . A self-employed person can't bid for a building contract.

http://images.to.camcom.it/f/IniziativeEstero/As/Aspetti_leg...

http://www.aisge.it/board_of_directors/board_15_10-dicembre-...

Notes to answerer
Asker: This would have been my choice except for the fact that there is also that "contratto d'opera" in the sentence. Thanks for your help

Explanation:
Maybe in this context tender is a little too grand/official ? If it talks about builders just taking on other workers.
