Hi Italian,
The italian version is referring to a dog, but I think there is a typo it should be "dal suo fido Leo".
Anyway in italian "fido" in considered also a synonym for "cane".
(eg. VIAGGIARE CON FIDO In auto, in treno, in aereo, in nave ...

I think you could take trustworthy out, unless you want to stress what "fido" entails, which is the loyalty of the dog.
