Context: description of frescoes

I am having considerable difficulty with the following paragraph and need some suggestions as to a suitable translation for three of the words: picchiettati/picchiettature/ (un) rameggiare. I will post these as separate questions. Thanks.


Here is the whole paragraph:
"Che non si sia compiuta soltanto un’operazione di pulizia superficiale ma di integrazione e perciò di ripristino dell’aspetto originale, senza l’evidenza dei guasti prodotti dalle picchiettature settecentesche, è dimostrato tra l’altro dall’apparizione di motivi, oltre che di molti particolari già ricordati: tra questi piace indicare la serie di pesci tra di loro contrapposti e anch’essi picchiettati da lumeggiature, che sono spuntati sotto la serie dei clipei con protomi e pavoni, entro un rameggiare dorato di volute d’acanto"
