ひとつのことに限定しない Explanation: less exclusiveに続くのがwhat to doであること、 またその後に、hyper-hysteric by doing more than one thing at a timeという説明があることから、exclusiveは「排他的」という単語をあてはめるよりは、「何かを限定してしまう」という意味を込めて説明するほうがわかりやすく訳せると思います。 同様にさまざまな場合でlessを日本語に訳すときに、その後ろにくる形容詞を漢語で置き換えるのではなく、和語を使って説明的に考えてみるという訳しかたがあるとおもいます。 それほどーーでない、あまりーーない という書き方もあるでしょうし、いっそ否定として訳してしまっても、続く形容詞に「程度」があるものなら、無理にlessを「より少ない」的に訳さないほうが日本語らしいと思います。 |

あまり独占的でない Explanation: 心理状態について言っているのであれば、"exclusive"自体は、独占的、気位が高い、排他的という意味になると思います. (ジーニアス英和大辞典、リーダース・リーダースプラス英和辞典、プログレッシブ和英中辞典参照） 全体の文章はわかりませんが、前後を見て意味が通じやすいのは”あまり独占的でない”といった感じでしょうか。 |
