Anyone out there who can help me with this? It's a text about silk velvet:

"il velluto di seta realizzato ai telai tradizionali con seta di baco, con 1000 trame al metro e 100 **fiocchi di pelo** per centimetro quadrato!

Non sono sicura ma parto dal fatto che, per quanto riguarda il velluto di seta, il termine pelo viene tradotto con PILE e in questo Mary ha perfettamente ragione. Non so se, però, la traduzione sia completa così e poichè il termine fiocco viene tradotto, tra gli altri, con TUFT ho trovato alcune occorrenze nel web.
Ce ne sono diverse relazionate alla tessitura di tappeti in velluto ma ti fornisco questa che è attinente a tutto il contesto e potrebbe risultarti utile:

agree  Rachel Fell: I think this seems more appropriate - link (can't find silk velvet at the moment) has carpets at tufts per sq. in http://www.wolfeflooring.com/installation_c.asp
