French term or phrase: pouvoirs bancaires
At first I thought this was "signing authority" (see http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/signing-authori... but some instances of the phrase have sowed doubt as they seem to refer to a document rather than a power. Could the same phrase be used for "signing authority" (the power) and "the signing authorisation" (the document granting that power"?

-> I assume the original European English spelling was with an S and the American English spells it with a Z, like most similar words.

bank mandates / bank mandate instructions

Explanation:
Mandates are just the documents that you type up + send off to the bank saying who can sign + their limits and possibly who can sign with who if 2 signatures are needed for example - you might have 2 columns with the authorised signatories and have to use one signatory from each. They can be typed up in the form of minutes signed by the directors of the company (hence those with the authority to sign up for undertakings etc)

neutral  Julie Barber: for your explanation - that depends on the country. For the UK we don't 'certify' documents, Company Secretaries don't have to send it and nobody has to present it when signing.

-> Thank you for the information. Out of curiosity, taking a practical example, how do you prove to the Lending Bank that you are an authorized signatory of the borrowing corporation, when you represent said corporation at a loan closing ?
