agree  Reinhard Wenzel: So sehe ich es auch. Die erste Lösung würde den Sinn verändern, da "reconnu" m.E. "anerkannt" ist und "oft auch verkannt" das Gegenteil wäre. Statt "er" würde ich aber "weite Teile seines Werkes" schreiben, weil der Name doch sehr bekannt ist.

agree  Walter Popp: Ja, reconnu ist mehr als bekannt, eben "anerkannt", deswegen scheint mir dieser Vorschlag vorzugswürdig. Meine Nuance: "Als Komponist weithin anerkannt, ist sein Bekanntheitsgrad nicht sehr hoch."
