Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / asphalt compaction

This is (well, more or less) the heading of an article on asphalt compaction.

Kraftpaket is one of my Lieblings-hate-words. I've been racking my brain for about an hour but it refuses to come up with anything that's remotely suitable - due to excess compaction, maybe? ;-) Your help is much appreciated.

agree  SinnerAtta: Great! Clearly, the use of "packs" was no accident. Also true: compaction is NOT done on the asphalt surface. It's the gravel bed that needs compacting (packing) to make the road withstand heavy axle loads & frost breakup. You pack a punch, Friderike!

Compaction provides a stronger road surface

Explanation:

Kompaktierung (compaction or packing) den Straßenbelag stärker macht.

Notes to answerer

Notes to answerer
Asker: Ah, but it's the road pavement that's turned into a monster "Kraftpaket" by the machine. ;-)

Asker: @SinnerAtta: The road pavement is laid (usually by pavers), and then just *lies* there, no?

disagree  SinnerAtta: A road surface can't be a powerhouse because it just lays there...
