Por favor, tengan el cuenta el contexto.

En un curso de redacción para ejecutivos, se muestra el ejemplo de una organización sin fines de lucro. En el texto se observa que la organización, a pesar de hacer un buen trabajo, necesita "a good back story .. that can create interest".

El texo es: "You need to find a good back story -- something unique and something that can create emotion and interest."

'historia de fondo' no me parece lo más adecuado en este contexto. Yo lo veo más como la historia que explica por qué se ha creado la institución. Esta parte del texto es precisamente sobre la "creación de historias", por eso preferiría usar la palabra 'historia/historias'.
