Handelsunternehmen gehen dazu über, von ihren Lieferanten Kennzeichnungselemente zu verlangen, die eine Angabe über den Gehalt des jeweiligen Lebensmittels am täglichen Durchschnittsverzehr angeben. Diese *Ernährungsnavigation* basiert auf einer in CIAA (Europä ischer Verband der Lebensmittelindustrie) von Konzernen erstellten Guideline Daily Amount (GDA). Diese Angaben beziehen sich auf eine tägliche Kalorienaufnahme von 2000 kcal und anteiligen Angaben für die einzelnen Nährstoffe. Die Kennzeichnung der Einzelpackung weist dementsprechend den Anteil der Energie und der Nährstoffe an diesem Gesamtbedarf aus.
