Non c'è molto contesto. La stagione è la primavera, siamo in aprile, e una donna passeggia "under the still-folded leaves" degli alberi.

mi sembra il modo più snello per rendere il concetto. Altrimenti: ancora arrotolate su se stesse (umpf...) / non ancora dispiegate (poetico...) / non ancora stese ("steso" non mi convince) / ancora in attesa di aprirsi/dispiegarsi/stendersi.... mah

agree  Leonardo La Malfa: Sì, ancora chiuse dovrebbe rendere l'idea, e senza troppa poesia. Oppure "appena nate", anche se è vero che non tutte nascono ad involtino.
