How would a native speaker (American) pronounced this name? I'm not sure whether the surname should be pronounced in a German way or like Z in zillion. I need to know in order to transliterate the name correctly into Russian.

Explanation:
In the US, 'Zai' like 'zaibatsu', 'back' like 'back door'. Rhymes with 'rye' (like rye bread) and 'tack' (like the thing you stick in the wall) and definitely a 'z' like 'zillion' and not in the German way. HTH.
