agree  Mihailolja: Yes, my "Log book" does not include a record of services carried out. A "Service book" obviously will but is not a legal document, its up to the owner to keep the service book up to date. At least this is the case in the U.K.

The UK equivalent of the MUP is the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency).

Follow the link to 'How to Register your Vehicle'. Registration in the UK involves both recording who is the legal owner of the car but also details of significant work (rebuilt) carried out on the vehicle in line with BUZOV's comments.

In the world of e-goverment, this information is now stored on databases rather than books so I wonder if there is not now a single paper book which stores this information.

You could try something like vehicle registration form.

Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC)
From 31st May 2004 a new Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) comes into use.
In line with European Council Directive 199/37/EC all EU member states are introducing a single Vehicle Registration Certificate with effect from 31st May 2004. This document will replace both the current vehicle registration certificate (up to now this was issued by the Revenue Commissioners for all new vehicles) and the vehicle licensing certificate (issued by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (DoEHLG) when a vehicle is first taxed).

The new Vehicle Registration Certificate will be issued by the DoEHLG when the vehicle is first taxed for use on the road. To tax a new vehicle from 31st May 2004 you will need a form RF100, which is normally available from your motor dealer. This form (and other supporting documents, where required) should be forwarded to the Motor Tax Head Office (at the address above) or you can call into any of our 4 public offices (River House, Ballymun, Clondalkin, Nutgrove) between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

The VRC will show details of the vehicle such as make, model, colour, body type, etc. Information leaflets for further details are available from the Motor Tax Office.

If your VRC has been lost, stolen or destroyed, you must apply for a replacement at the motor taxation office with form RF134 completed at a Garda Station, and €12.00 fee.
