English to Albanian translations [Non-PRO]
Social Sciences - Education / Pedagogy / vocational education
English term or phrase: remittances
I'm editing the English of an EU report on social inclusion of ethnic groups in several countries, with particular reference to vocational education.

I have the following sentence, and the use of the word "remittances" (which refers to emigrants sending money to their families in their country of origin) is out of context, so I feel it may be a false-friend problem.

"The number of ethnic Albanians without formal qualifications registered with the Employment Service Agency is very low, due to cultural factors, their involvement in the grey economy, ***remittances***, etc.

One possibility is that the intended word is "referral", that is, they are referred there from somewhere else.

Is this possible, or is there another interpretation?

TIA:-)

Remitanca/dërgesa

Explanation:
Dear Lia,
Your question seems to have been posted in the wrong place. Please note the language pair is Albanian into English. If you are after the translation of the word Remittances -what is used in albanian is remitanca ose dërgesa parash nga jashtë. A longer paragraph would have helped to define the context better However, I believe that the report really did mean remittances. ...due to cultural factors, their involvement in the grey economy, remittances [from family abroad], etc.

In fact I meant Eng-Alb. Perhaps I should have pointed out that the language pair is Alb-Engl. I think the moderator of this forum will be able to move it to the right forum. The word remittances has the same meaning in Albanian.
