Explanation:
To place the container at rest for 30 minutes so that separation of the mixure into 2 phases will occur.

Obviously, mixing is a process of increasing the entropy of the system (the interior of the container). Then why would the mixure separate itself into different layers (phases)? Is the second law of thermal dynamics failing? The answer is revealing, the energy factor wins in this case, i.e., through separation the internal energy of the system becomes lower, which compensates for the decrease in entropy due to the separation into layers. In other words, a mixture is more random but separation is lower in the interaction energy between the two liquids, whichever wins renders the final result of the state of the system.
