I do think Barun is accurate in the idea that the flame retardent, inflammability, or flammability test, (whichever phrase you like best) is conducted by "prolonged" contact with a flame or heat source, but IMO it is a test of the quality or characteristic of being, flame retardant, fireproof, inflammable etc. Not a description of the test, I think silt is also trying to convey the same idea, prolonged is the word needed here, IMO "delayed" does't convey the idea of exposure to the flame over a period of time.
