bribery vs. granting favors Explanation: Both terms are used in similar fashion as they are in your German context. Check also the following wikipedia article on corruption: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption_in_local_government -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 30 mins (2007-06-11 12:16:32 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- see also article "Attacking Lobbyists: The Real Problem is the Government's Ability to Grant Favors" http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4539 You might also want to think of "grant priveleges"... |

bribery Explanation: **Based on the definition you provided** both acts are just "bribery" in English. Black's Law - "bribe, a price, reward, gift, or *favor* bestowed or promised with a view to pervert the judgment of or influence the action of a person in a position of trust". (emphasis added) "bribery - The corrupt payment, receipt, or solicitation of a private favor for official action." But I would like to see an "official" definition under the German criminal code. |
