Medical - Medical: Cardiology / echo doppler
Spanish term or phrase: esp.
The abbreviations esp. and fas. appear in a table giving the results of an echo doppler, checking for signs of deep vein thrombosis in a patient's legs. Results (+ or -) are given for different sections (femoral, tibial, etc.) Can anyone tell me what these abbreviations stand for and if there is a standard English abbreviation?

No estoy 100% segura, pero la traducción de fas me parece, por lo que encontré, que es systolic shortening fraction.

Suerte!

Explanation:
ESP =

Early Systolic Paradox
Effective Systolic Pressure
End-systolic Pressure
Esclerosis sistémica progresiva

Though I doubt it's the last one, if it's an ECG

By the way, are

ESP and FAS both Spanish abbreviations?

Notes to answerer
Asker: Unfortunately you can never be quite sure. Spanish texts quite often include English abbreviations, so TAC may well appear as CAT, etc.
