Art/Literary - General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters / Description Of An Unconventional, 20-Year Old Photograpy Student In NYC
French term or phrase: decolle
Description of an intelligent, perceptive 20-year old photography student that the writer/protagonist has spoken with, at great length, on the NYC subway. It's the writer/protagonist's reaction to/impression of the student right after the student gets off the subway train they were riding on together. Elsewhere, she describes the student as "lucid" or "clear-thinking."

Context:"Je trouve qu'elle **decolle** pour son age. Je suis souflee."

My working translation is: "She comes off well for her age. I'm just blown away by her."

Is this OK?

Merci!

she is something else
Explanation:
she really stands out for her age; she socked it to me for sure

As UK and not US, i'm sure the language is wrong but it is the right register
