Explanation:
Pod is probably acceptable from a scientific standpoint, but I think vanilla bean or whole vanilla bean is more commonly used in culinary circles.

After taking a look at some UK websites it seems that vanilla pods is used in the UK while vanilla beans is more commonly used in US English, so the term you use will depend on your audience.

Example sentence(s):
  • The flavouring comes from the seed pod, or the ‘bean’ of the vanilla plant.
  • When you use the whole vanilla bean the complexity of flavors and aromas of the bean are released.
