agree  Najib Aloui: No English word to say that?"bichonner" is familiar, tender, a bit humorous, its cousin perhaps exists in English, some verb with post-position "up"(I imagine)

  -> it's more in the sense of doing the final preparations to get the work ready for display. "dusting it off" is used. sprucing it up in colloquial English but since these works of art...-is best to stick with bichonnage and add an explanation.
