Je comprends la phrase mais n'arrive pas à trouver une jolie formulation en français.

Explanation:
I think this may be one of those cases where a formulation with a noun sits better in FR than a verbal one.

For 'food' as taken in a restaurant, I don't think 'aliments' or 'nourriture' works very well (this isn't an 'épicerie'!) — in the trade, we usually talk about 'restauration', and the context makes it abundantly clear that the food element is being treated separately from the drinks.

Personally, I don't feel quite confident that 'mets' would work; 'mets' might indeed be what you put in front of a customer, but 'food' here has rather the sense of it as a commodity, or at least, industry sector.
