German term or phrase: vorbehalten
I'm having trouble coming up with a good translation for "vorbehalten" in this context (software license contract). Would anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

"Der Lizenznehmer wird den Lizenzgeber umgehend schriftlich ueber die Geltendmachung eines gegen ihn gerichteten Anspruchs wegen Verletzung von Urheberrechten oder gewerblichen Schutzrechten benachrichtigen. Der Lizenznehmer wird dem Lizenzgeber im Rahmen des Zumutbaren saemtliche Abwehrmassnahmen und Vergleichsverhandlungen vorbehalten."

reserve (to the licensor)
Explanation:
literally but a re-wording would be better.

The idea is that the licensee will allow the licensor to approve all reasonable defenses and negotiations

Explanation:
I think this is what is meant here.

neutral  Ted Wozniak: against defenses and negotiations?? I agree it is in line with the purpose of the standard endemnity clause but I don't see how "hold harmless" fits in this context
