In deinem praktischen Zusammenhang geht es jedoch nicht um die Festlegung und Normung von Maßen, sondern um die Erfassung von Daten durch die entsprechende (Mess-)Technik. Das wird als instrumentation bezeichnet (alternativ: measurement; Metrology würde ich hier jedoch nicht wählen).
