...open-ended / non-exhaustive Explanation: I agree with Alain's answer, but wanted to offer an alternative way of phrasing it. My Harraps Unabridged suggests, for 'une liste non limitative' : an open-ended list - so perhaps you could adapt this idea and bring in the idea of 'non-exhaustive' (i.e. if something is open-ended, presumably it could also be described as 'non-exhaustive' and say something like: ...the description hereafter /below is given for illustration purposes only ......(or for the purposes of illustration only) and is non-exhaustive ...or 'should be regarded as open-ended' (depending on the tone/register of your text. Just an idea -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 36 mins (2007-02-25 17:25:58 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- ...or, in order to include the 'nullement' (which I forgot to do).... something like: ...and is in no way (intended to be) an exhaustive description |
