Ownership of vessels Explanation: Ownership of vessels, "un armateur" beibng a shipowner. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2007-02-06 17:02:43 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In the section regarding the ISM Code you could justifiably use "shipowners" instead of shipowning companies. Merchant vessels tend to be owned by fairly nebulous companies in Liberia, Panama, etc., although there are often recognisable individuals behind them.
