in you case i think it means very clever or profound

Explanation:
Squinting has a negative connotation, and in literal terms it is an eye defect. Accordingly, in this context, this guy's imagination is defective in some way. So my guess is that the closest translation would be "iskrivljena" ili čak "izopačena mašta".
