unerwünscht / unnötig Explanation: In English the term "junk" as in "junk mail" etc. is used for anything that is unwanted and unsolicited. Also means rubbish. Here it could mean that the lawsuits are unnecessary, amount to nothing and generally rubbish and unnecessary. |

Schauprozess Explanation: Eine direkte Übersetzung habe ich auch noch nicht finden können; ich bin eher über diesen Eintrag gestolpert - mein Fachgebiet ist eigentlich ein anderes. Aber viellleicht reicht mein Vorschlag zu einem Denkanstoß? Laut Link werden Schauprozesse eher in diktatorischen Staaten durchgeführt - also vermutlich nicht in den USA. ungerechtfertigte Klage Explanation: A junk lawsuit is one in the USA that has no chance of winning in the courts because it has no basis. However, anybody can sue anybody over anything in the USA. The reason these are filed is so the plaintiff (and the lawyer) can settle with the party being sued before trial. For example, it will cost you 10000 USD to defend yourself from this suit, but I will settle it out of court for 7000 USD. See? I just saved you 3000 USD. A ridiculous situation for everybody but the lawyers. |
