Dengan cara hydrocracking dan hydrofining, pemisahan dan penyulingan dengan pelarut air, syncrude diproses untuk menghasilkan produk akhir seperti bensin, distilat hidrokarbon menengah, furnace oil dan bahan kimia lain. Pada proses ini nafta sebenarnya diubah menjadi bahan-bahan kimia aromatis.
