The word often refers to the sinking of the mid-span of a beam which in British housing generally is not allowed to exceed 1/325 of the span. See "deformation". (2) [sur.] The angle between a line and the extension of the preceding line of a traverse is a deflection angle. Deflection angles are also used in setting out circular curves.
