Dalam hemat saya, gasifikasi 1 ton lignin dari satu ton kering biomassa akan menghasilkan 5 galon etanol.

Berat kering di sini adalah berat kering biomassa. Biomassa mengandung antara lain lignin dan etanol. Agar didapat etanol murni (untuk dipakai sebagai bahan bakar), lignin harus dikeluarkan lewat gasifikasi.
