French term or phrase: lien de contrôle
In a transcript in Canadian French: "Q: Est-ce que cette compagnie est liée à X? A: Non. Q: Est-ce que X a un lien de contrôle sur cette compagnie?"

Anyone familiar with financial terminology in Canadian French who knows how this would be best rendered in English? Advice much appreciated. TIA.

English translation:a controlling interest
Explanation:
I don't know if there's anything Canadian-specific to this term.

No doubt our Canada based co-users will enlighten us.

Until then, this seems as plausible as anything

(financial) management

Explanation:
As a suggestion only! I agree with MG although it could mean 'are they involved in the (financial) management of this company?' - although we would need more context - either more of the text, or more of your own understanding of it please. Thanks

ps: (if we have the context) more specific could be 'the accounting'

Notes to answerer
Asker: I did wonder if it might refer to some kind of supervisory role, which would fit the context, i.e. whether X has any way of knowing what's going on in these companies financially.
