English term or phrase: to narrow the imager's 640 axis to 200 pixels
If your application uses only 1D symbols, you can narrow the Imager’s **640 axis to 200 pixels**.

Since only a narrow strip of the Imager’s field of view is required to decode a 1D symbol, 200 pixels is sufficient. The area above and below the 200 pixels is ignored, reducing the amount of image processing required, and increasing decode speed.

The diagram to the left represents the Imager array (1024 x 640 for Far Field and 1024 x 640 for Near Field). In the default decode zone, all 1024 x 640 pixels are candidates for decoding.

Explanation:
There's probably a better way to say this in German ;-) but it tells you what is basically meant: you only have to use a 200 pixel wide area of the available 640 (times 1024 pixels) for 1D symbols.

(possibly there's a typo in the figure caption and the near-field array should be 1024 x 200 pixels, but, then again, that doesn't have to be related to this part of the text)

-> verkürzen? don't know, the text states that a random 200 pixel wide strip can be set; this sounds more like using only the the top or bottom (or left/right) portion
