Explanation:
I found the explanation for the grade system on a US University web site and I based my translation on their system. I looked on my own certificates and depending on the Uni you get for Pass: admis ou acquis and for Satisfactory (which is a mention): Passable

Grading Code (see web site below)

The official grade code of the university is as follows: A (highest passing grade), B, C, D (lowest passing grade), F (Fail), I (Incomplete), P (Pass), S (Satisfactory), and W (Withdrawn). I, P, S, and W are not calculated in a student’s GPA, but the grade of F is calculated as 0 points.

I just looked at McGill (Canada) grading system and they use a letter grading system where they define P/F as pass/fail (reçu, admis, acquis / refusé) and S/US for satisfactory/unsatisfactory (see link under letter grades). However, in that case S/US would probably correspond to satisfaisant / non satisfaisant en Français.
