Tech/Engineering - Nuclear Eng/Sci / instruments for combatting illlicit trafficking of nuclear materials
Ukrainian term or phrase: спрацювання
Hello! I'm working on a document which is mainly Russian, but they add in the occasional Ukrainian word for my entertainment :-(. I do not speak Ukrainian and this word
спрацювання keeps appearing. DOes it mean 'overlapping' by any chance? We are talking about detection devices used by border guards at control points to detect radioactive material. I can only find 'abrasion' but that seems to make no sense.

Каждый случай спрацювання прибора радиационного контроля должен проверяться для подтверждения спрацювання.

also occurs in спрацюванні сигналізаційних приборов

Russian translation:износ/срабатывание
Explanation:
Спрацювання - износ (технического оборудования) - deterioration, wear
Спрацьовування - although it sounds a bit weird and tongue-twisting in Ukrainian - срабатывание в том значении, что прибор сработал, например, засек радиоактивные материалы - a device _worked_, _functioned_ well (located radioactive materials, for example).
