Danish term or phrase: vækstlaget
I suspect this may be a metaphor, as 'growth layer' sounds more to do with biology than theatre. Sentence:

Sikre åben scene aktiviteter, herunder fra *vækstlaget*, gæstespil samt nationale såel som internationale co-produktioner.

Can anyone think of a better word than growth layer for this context, please, assuming that it's referring to the gradual growth in popularity and performances following certain changes? It'd be appreciated.

fresh talent

Explanation:
Fresh talent is more theatrical, and may be what is meant.

'Promising new developments' is another option, but I tend to search for another word every time development pops into my head - it is so over-used!

grass roots

Explanation:
As this is presented as an example of 'open stage activities', I would assume that they are referring to less established acts in the 'layer' below mainstream theatre (where new things tend to grow from).

the scene

Explanation:
What about the asterisks - are they in the original too? Maybe it is "the scene".
Entering "vækstlaget" and "grass roots" I found a text that speaks of "lokale kunstner og vækstlaget". The use of "grass roots" there was of no help though.

That link was not so helpful, as the word only appears in the title. Just check the word in Google alone and look at the theater links. The context generally looks like "the scene" or "the local scene".
