nasolabial fold Explanation: According to Dorland, -genian / -genien refers to the chin. From the pictures cited, this is the crease running down from each side of the nose that ageing women love to hate. The combinations nasogenian-en fold/sulcus and nasobuccal fold/sulcus have a scattered handful of hits, but the only one that hits paydirt is "nasolabial fold," with 48,300 references. My only hesitation is that the fold in the pictures is farther from the lips and goes straight down to the chin. Mine (!) runs closer to the lips and doesn't extend as far down on the chin. So my doubt would be whether the text is referring to a fold as it is located on a particular inidividual or to the fold as the phenomenon in general. |
