Geox’s core market is selling mid-priced brown shoes at up to about $135 a pair. The company’s chairman and founder is Mario Moretti Polegato, who wanted to invent shoes that allowed sweat out but prevented water from coming in. Geox shoes have a membrane in the sole that the company says does just that.

Se me ocurren tres posibilidades:
1 - zapatos comunes y corrientes
2 - zapatos cómodos
3 - zapatos para todos los días, de todo andar

Las he investigado todas y todas son posibles...

No creo factible usar la primera, porque mi cliente podría verse en serios problemas :))

Explanation:
No creo que sea malo usar el término corriente o normalito o algo así ya que eso e slo que cuenta el texto. Es más, se subraya que se vende *mid-priced brown shoes* o sea, unos zapatos marrones normalitos, que aparentan ser los del montón, los corrientes y comunes, pero por un precio sorprendentemente alto. Y todo ello gracias a la membrana transpirable. Si no fuera por ella, serían otros zapatos del montón en los que nadie se fijaría.

If the point is to translate the plain meaning of the term you supplied (rather than a *paraphrase* or *explanation* thereof) then "zapatos marrones" is what fits. It really doesn't matter whether the shoes are ordinary, fancy, ugly, water-resistant, etc.

Of course, I fully realize that you have the right to award points at your own discretion. I'll leave it to others to decide on the judiciousness of the decision.

Asker: I think there is much more to it than the color, Robert. My husband uses this brand, and they come in different colors, not just brown. On the other hand, they are formal, not the "comfy" kind of shoes. That's why I'm intrigued.
