disagree  humbird: I object for two reasons: This is not "verb", it is "verbal noun" or "gerund". Second, 振り払う means something is removed from something. In this case it is her blond mane. Hair is "attached" to her head, not detacheable.

私の訳では「彼女はゴージャスな金髪を振り(たて）ながら」となります。
本当は「波打たせながら」といったほうが文学的ですが・・・・

Ｋａｔｈｙさんへの反対でもいいましたが、**振り払う**というと、なにかをそれがもともとついていたものから**払い落とす**という意味になります。
たとえば髪にごみがついたので、頭を振ってそれを払い落とすような感じです。

ですがこの場合、彼女は金髪を振りたてながらそういう言葉を発したわけです。なにも自分のmaneを振り払って頭から投げ出したわけではありません。もっともかつらなら別ですがね。

振り上げる


Explanation:
みなさんのお答えを参考にして、「振り上げる」というのももしかしてありかも知れないと思いました。ここでの tossing という英語は、手を使って髪を後に投げるような動作なのか、頭を振って後ろに持っていくような動作なのか、とかいくつか考えられるような気がします。Susan さんの「振り立てる」が恐らくどんぴしゃだとは思われますが、顔にかかった髪を払うなら文字通り KathyT さんの「振り払う」もありかなとは思います。わたしの回答はその中間的な動作をイメージして「振り上げる」です。髪を上に上げるような感じです。toss というとバレーのトスのように上に上げるようなニュアンスではないでしょうか。

Is the phrase that popped to mind, but I seem to recall that it's used only with wind, not an intentional toss of the head.
