So one way to correct this sentence would be:
彼女は**愛され、**厚い信頼を受けていますので** 皆の先頭に立ってリーダーシップをとれる人間であります。or simply 皆の先頭に立つことの出来る人間です because 先頭に立つ means "leadership"。

I too, would stumble on a construction such as this, as I am uncomfortable with the syntax of the sentence. In short, without a direct object indicated by the particle を the word とれる must stand alone.

The absence of a comma after 信頼の suggests that the term describes the woman's leadership quality, rather than the woman herself.

Thus, I perceive three separate and distinct thoughts:

1) 愛され　(loveable, well-liked, etc.)
2) 信頼の厚いリダーシップ (dependable and warm leadership)
3) とれる（capable, effective, consequent, etc.)

She is effective, well-liked, and demonstrates dependable and friendly leadership.
