References to best practice initiatives of public participation in planning.
Incorporation of trust-building mechanisms towards planners and local authorities and improvement of key negotiation skills that are transferable to many situations and other sectors.
Training in the *simple virtual reality tool* developed, assessing its transferability and reproduction to other situations.
Training on mediation and communication skills, a communal “planning consciousness” and increased ability to comprehend the subject matter of planning.
A joint session should be held with planners and the public in order for them to develop their communication skills that could then be transferred to other situations. The skills developed would lead to fewer conflicts arising between planners and the public during the proposal phase of new developments.
