Jackie Bowman: Despite the 'disagree' below. there is no connotation of training. People are inducted into academies. Google 'inducted into the academy' -- many thousands of examples.

reubenius: To me induction sounds more as if the person is being given an introduction /training in something (ie more than just a ceremony). I'd go with investiture (academics wear gowns, or 'vestments').

Explanation:
The US president has an "inauguration ceremony" so I would use that.

Investiture sounds ok but seems to have more of a religious or regal feel to ot.

And, for me, induction is more the process that one goes through when being introduced to a new company (as in "Your induction course starts on Monday 17th....").
