ハウスボトル a bottle of the house wine Explanation: The key is to know what "house wine" means. Many restaurants pick one kind of white and one kind of red wine as their "standard" wine, they call it the "house wine". You can order it if you don't have any special preference, or have no clue which wines on the winelist are good... Here is an article talking about it: http://www.ivillage.co.uk/food/qas/0,,161170_179853,00.html So, the "house bottle" is exactly that, a bottle of the "house wine". I am pretty sure it is not referring to the "bottle keep" system, that is more likely in clubs or bars, not restaurants, and would not be part of a menu. Interestingly, cosmetics salons also do bottle-keep for expensive lotions, and recently service shops at car dealerships keep motor oil bottles, too... So, that is not the house bottle, it would be called ボトルキープ. |
