Explanation:
I have heard this term more frequently than man-days?-this is in UK English environment. This would be 8,000 hours spent on training-rather than 8,000 days? would seem to make more sense?

neutral  Enza Longo: then it would be heures-homme or heure-personne. I think this is total days x men, i.e. 2 men at 300 days/year = 600 man days... at least that's the way I understand it

disagree  Tony M: Although man-hours is possibly more common, as Enza says, it's not the same unit, and man/days is perfectly common too

neutral  Charlie Bavington: Training? No matter, I suppose it's possible. But a team of just thirty working all year would clock up 8000 man days (if they did nothing else). So it's not *that* exceptional... :-)
