through densely nettled underbrush,
through stinging burr and thistle,
till we met that thorny tangle,
that wild rose thicket,
that pierced our tender skins
and drew a crimson dew that trickled
from fresh slits we thrilled in fiercely.

Thus with insatiate thirst we supped
from one another’s gaping cuts,
then kissed with lips that dripped
our sickly-sweet commingled blood.
Its sanguine bouquet permeated the mist
and as our waxen bodies cooled the dusk
we lapped the last droplets
to the creak of dying wood.

Oh, what **earthy music** to swoon by
in those furtive, unholy shadows
of our thorny wildwood dark.

the author tells me that earthy here means a combination of unsophisticated, beastlike, of the land, sexy, or even the color (ocre).

I'm at a loss for the right word. Thanks for your suggestions!
