the bark is usually every bit as bad as the bite. |

the bark is usually every bit as bad as the bite.

Explanation: I think that in this case, the author is trying to express that the new edgy fashions "live up to (his/her/the fashion industry's) expectations". Prior to "Fashion Week" in various global cities, or in the lead-up to new releases of designer collections, there is a lot of speculation with regard to exactly what the new "look" will be or what a particular designer will emphasize for the new season, etc. In this case, the "bite" = the expectations of the author/the fashion industry/the consumer. This phrase then means that HTH :-) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs 25 mins (2005-08-30 03:21:32 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- You may be aware of this, but I should probably point out that, confusingly, "bad" is used as a synonym for "good" (!), cool, etc. "Bad", here, does not have any negative connotations. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs 32 mins (2005-08-30 03:28:43 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry! I completely forgot about the "usually" from your question. This would then mean, i guess: |
