A method of wood surface finishing which appears in the following heading under woodworking processes:

"Staining, Patinating"

I have done some research and here is what I have right now:

صباغة الخشب ودهانه بغشاء العتق

The translation for staining is fine, but I am looking for a better translation for patinating.

I am looking for a name that would be familiar in the trade among carpenters and craftsmen, preferably but not necessarily in Egypt or Kuwait.
