Is there anything in the USA similar to a "posto de saúde"? If so, what is it called? In a "posto de saúde" you can get vaccines, some exams, etc., but its much smaller than a hospital and doesnt have anywhere near the resources a hospital has.

Yes, "postos de saúde" are not greater than hospitals nor health centers.

Actually they're the smallest organized unit in Brazil's health services system (SUS). They offer primary (basic, prevention-oriented, not specialized or hospital-related) health services in poor neighborhoods and rural areas such as immunization, prevention and control of endemic diseases, common injuries, etc. Not only that but they also act as a "hub" for education and local exchange of information on childbearing, how to avoid injuries, diseases, drug abuse etc.

I believe the equivalent in US would be any of the proposed terms above. For more reference, please check the links below.

Lastly, do a Google search using terms such as "PSF", "posto" and "saúde". You may eventualy run across someone's thesis' abstract containing other instances where the expression has been translated.

To answer your question, we don\'t have an equivalent in the USA.
